Tufted Rugs Manufacturing Process

How to Properly Clean and Wash a Tufted Rug

Regular Maintenance: Keep Dirt Away

  • Vacuum Weekly: Use a low-power vacuum or a handheld attachment to remove dust and debris. Avoid strong suction, as it can loosen the fibers over time.
  • Shake It Out: If the rug is small, take it outside and give it a good shake to remove dirt trapped in the fibers.
  • Spot Clean Spills Immediately: Blot spills with a dry or damp cloth—don’t rub, as this can push the stain deeper into the fabric.

Deep Cleaning: When Your Rug Needs a Refresh

  • Use a Gentle Cleaner: Mix mild dish soap with water and lightly dab the stained area using a sponge or soft cloth. Avoid soaking the rug, as too much moisture can weaken the glue holding the backing.
  • Steam Cleaning? Be Careful! Steam can loosen adhesives, so if you decide to steam clean, use the lowest heat setting and avoid excessive moisture.
  • Dry Completely: Always let the rug air dry flat in a well-ventilated space. Hanging it while wet can cause it to lose its shape.

 What to Avoid

No Machine Washing – The glue in tufted rugs can break down if soaked in water for too long.
No Harsh Chemicals – Bleach or strong cleaners can fade colors and weaken fibers.
No Excessive Scrubbing – This can cause the fibers to fray or come loose.
